The One Health approach recognizes the close connection between the health of humans, animals and the environment. The One Health Platform (OHP) is intended to create a coordinating, dynamic structure that
- supports inter- and transdisciplinary scientific development in the One Health field in accordance with the One Health definition of the One Health High Level Expert Panel (OHHLEP)
- links national and international funding initiatives with each other,
- provides impetus
- provides scope for identifying research gaps and needs.
Key tools for the sustainable development of a One Health research community include active work with young researchers, events and targeted, interdisciplinary project funding. The development of content is essentially controlled by the members of the One Health Platform and the Scientific Advisory Board, which is democratically elected by the members of the OHP as an interdisciplinary body at the annual One Health Symposium. The work of the OHP is coordinated by the office, which is decentralized at the University of Münster, the Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI) in Greifswald - Insel Riems and the Helmholtz Institute for One Health (HIOH) in Greifswald.
